Rules of netiquette

Netiquette refers to Internet etiquette. This simply means the use of good manners in online communication such as e-mail, forums, blogs, and social networking sites to name a few.
It is vital to use netiquette because communication online is non-verbal and we lack of gestures, facial expression, etc to show our reaction to another person.

Here are some rules of netiquette:
  1. Don’t be rude or abusive. (What works in real life, works in the Internet. We should always respect people we communicate with and treat them as good as we can)
  2. Be as brief as possible. ( Nowadays being laconic is a real skill, nobody wants to waste his time looking for desirable information in the message with huge prehistory or stories one is not interested at all)
  3. Don’t make people read the same thing more than once. (Once again don’t make people waste their precious time on studying the information they already know)
  4. Put your best foot forward. ( It’s a topical issue to show the best version of you in the Internet, but don’t brag or show off. Acting, writing and speaking in a polite, intelligent and respectful way is enough)
  5. Use descriptive titles. (To draw attention to your e-mail or post use proper titles. Don’t try to deceive people by getting wrong idea of the contents)
And my favourite one is the Golden Rule of Netiquette
“Do not do or say online what you would not do or say offline.”
